At Vancouver 2010, he won bronze in the normal hill Gundersen event, making history by delivering Italy’s first Olympic medal in Nordic combined. His honours also include a World Championship silver medal won five years later in Falun, as well as no fewer than 16 World Cup podium finishes.
Raised in a family passionate about winter sports, his early years were linked to alpine skiing and, inspired by his older brother Riccardo and his father Stelio, he nurtured his passion on the slopes of Mount Zoncolan. He later switched to cross-country skiing—his strongest discipline—before eventually adding ski jumping, with the rest following naturally.
Purple is his favourite colour and he loves eating pizza and Sachertorte. He is a keen runner but above all a music enthusiast, particularly fond of Dire Straits, AC/DC, Muse and Guns N’ Roses. Twenty years after his Olympic debut at Turin 2006, he cannot wait to take flight towards his sixth Olympic appearance, the second on home snow.
