She was born into skiing excellence. Her mother is former Italian skier Petra Moroder, silver medallist in moguls at the 1993 World Championships in Altenmarkt. Maria’s alpine skiing career came to an early end during her third year of lower secondary school and, following her mother’s advice, she turned to freestyle skiing, where she quickly stood out, particularly in the Park & Pipe formats.
In March 2024, she recorded two top-10 finishes at the Junior World Championships in Livigno/Mottolino (sixth in Slopestyle and ninth in Big Air). Her résumé also includes five Europa Cup victories – all achieved during the winter of 2025 – four in Slopestyle and one in Big Air.
Another great passion in her life is horse riding, and she has also taken part in the Oswald von Wolkenstein, South Tyrol’s most traditional equestrian event. Born in 2006, she is eager to test herself against the very best, making her Olympic debut at the Livigno Snow Park.
