She grew up in Alzano Lombardo, in the province of Bergamo. She first stepped onto the ice at the age of five during a holiday in France with her mother and friends. Back in Italy, she found a rink in nearby Zanica and never stopped skating. She began her career as a singles skater, with a best result of fifth at the 2017/2018 Italian Championships.
In 2019 she teamed up with Niccolò Macii, and within a few years the pair rewrote Italian figure skating history. In 2023 they won European gold in Espoo and world bronze in Saitama, a result they repeated in Boston in 2025. They closed the pre-Olympic season at the World Team Trophy in Japan, contributing to Italy’s historic third place. The WhatsApp group shared by Sara, her partner and the coaches is called “Five Rings Project”. Now, on the ice of Milano Cortina, it is time to turn it into reality.
