His spark with skis was lit at the age of four. His teenage years began in cross-country skiing but, once he discovered the shooting range, he shifted his efforts to biathlon, drawn by its drama and intensity. He won bronze with the Italian mixed relay team at both Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018. In 2011, he also claimed bronze in the world championship mass start in Khanty-Mansiysk—a medal later upgraded to silver 14 years on following the doping disqualification of Russia’s Sergey Ustyugov.
His cabinet includes three world medals in team events and two individual World Cup sprint victories. Away from the tracks, his hobbies include paragliding (also tandem) and mountain running—escapes that help him recharge in nature and keep the hope alive of signing more Olympic masterpieces.
