Biography

Originally from Romania, in 2009 he settled with his family in Corbetta, in the Metropolitan City of Milan. He began with rugby before specialising in weightlifting, winning the Italian title twice in a row (2020–2021) in the up to 96 kg category. Almost by chance—teased in the gym by a skeleton athlete—he moved towards bobsleigh, immediately impressing national team coaches with his strength and explosiveness. In February 2022, after a 12-year wait, he finally obtained citizenship, just in time to receive the call-up and fly to the Beijing Games for his long-awaited international stage. A double milestone that secured him a permanent place in the Azzurri squad for the following Olympic cycle. His peak came in November 2023 in Yanqing where, with his teammates, he finished second, taking an Italian quartet back onto a World Cup podium for the first time since 2006. Four years ago in China his goal was to take part; now, on the Cortina track, he wants to raise the stakes.
