Born and raised in Someda with his mother Giovanna and father Claudio—his first fans together with his brother Mattia—he began “surfing” at the age of 15, when he realised alpine skiing was not the frontier he most wanted to explore. Credit goes to his first instructor Luca Vadagnini, who advised him to try the board. He felt immediately at home and from that moment never put it down.
Having graduated from the vocational wood school in Tesero, in the past (between races) he worked in a carpentry workshop in Moena, investing most of his earnings in new equipment. Before the pandemic, on 29 February 2020 he won his first World Cup race: the parallel giant slalom in Blue Mountain, Canada. A lover of motorbikes and road cycling across the Dolomite passes, when he is free he also enjoys going into the woods to prepare firewood for winter and cooking, strictly using local ingredients. At Milano Cortina he is ready to make it three Olympic appearances.
