Biography

She started at just 18 months, toddling around on a pair of plastic skis. Snow is in her DNA: her mother, Maria Rosa, was a high-level skier, while her father Daniele is a ski instructor. Yet it was her grandmother Adriana who enrolled her in ski school in Courmayeur, at a time when her mother was covering the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Games as a journalist.

There is almost no space left in her cabinet: three Olympic podiums, five world championship medals, 85 World Cup podiums with 37 victories (the Italian women’s record), two overall World Cup titles—making her the first Italian woman ever to win the Crystal Globe thanks to her 2020 triumph—and five discipline trophies. She loves cooking, reading and dancing, is a fan of Swiss former tennis player Roger Federer, and is passionate about all kinds of activities because sport is her way of life.

In April 2025, a displaced fracture of the tibial plateau and fibular head in her left leg, sustained in the final run of the giant slalom at the Italian Championships, turned her Olympic build-up into a tormented race against time. The same race that, day after day, becomes another challenge in which “the Tiger of La Salle” ultimately finds a way to smile—the first flag bearer in history born in the city of the Games.
