Biography

A record-breaking athlete and an elusive champion. At Pyeongchang 2018, she became the first Italian woman in history to win Olympic gold in the downhill. At Beijing 2022, just 23 days after a partial tear of her left anterior cruciate ligament and a small fibula fracture, she produced an epic performance to claim silver.

Her trophy cabinet also includes world championship bronze (giant slalom in St Moritz 2017) and silver (super-G in Åre 2019), as well as four Downhill World Cup titles (2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023) and 27 career World Cup victories—second only to Federica Brignone among Italian women (37). The first Italian woman to reach World Cup podiums in four different disciplines (giant slalom, super-G, downhill and combined), she is the queen of miracles and lightning-fast comebacks in a career full of joy but also scarred by heavy crashes, in which she has almost always had to live with pain.

A pride of Italy and of her Bergamo, she is a devoted Atalanta supporter, a photography enthusiast and trains while listening to music. The Olympia delle Tofane is “the piste of dreams” and she has no intention of stopping making us dream there.
