The son of Alessandro—winner of two world titles in the flying kilometre in the 1970s and a former world record-holder—high speed is in his DNA. He burst onto the scene at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Megève, winning downhill gold and super-G bronze. Too many injuries slowed his rise, and he had to wait until December 2022 to claim his first World Cup podium: third at the age of 32 in the Val Gardena downhill.
Two seasons later—again on the legendary Saslong—he surprised everyone in the super-G and tasted his first World Cup victory. In between came another double third place, but above all the satisfying awareness that his body finally seemed fully on his side again, thanks to meticulous off-snow work and diet. At 35, “Il Trattore” is ready to make space for himself on the Olympic stage too, determined to reclaim—with interest—all the time he lost.
