He discovered hockey thanks to his uncle, the person who first took him onto the ice. A left-shot defenceman born in Bolzano, he is one of those players who bravely choose to grow abroad. Having come through the youth ranks of Trento and Laives, he decided to take the road to Germany. There he completed his junior pathway in Berlin, up to his first-team debut with the Eisbären in 2013. Over the years he earned a permanent place in the DEL, also playing for the Schwenninger Wild Wings (his current club) and Krefeld Pinguine. The delay to the German league due to the Covid-19 emergency gave him the chance to return home to HC Bolzano on loan, a prelude to a subsequent new move to Baden-Württemberg.
A pillar of Italy’s Under 18 and Under 20 teams, in 2014 he pulled on the senior national team jersey, with which he has played two Olympic qualifying campaigns (PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022) and nine World Championship editions (serving as captain in 2019). On the ice, even at 33, he wants to keep surprising on the most prestigious stage of all, the one intertwined with the five rings.
